A.

Answer is 7.

As per rules of mathematics, we need to apply BODMAS  ( Brackets, Orders (powers and roots), Division and Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction) and follow the  order of operation. So, solving it will give:

a) 6 – 1 x 0 + 1 (because 2/2 is one and division takes the priority as order of operation                                                             because of BODMAS)

b) 6 – 0 + 1 (because 1 x 0 is 0 )

c)  7 – 0 ( Addition takes priority as order of operation  over subtraction                                                                  because of BODMAS)

d) 7 ( because 7 – 0 is 7)

Many thanks to Arun and Ravi for the answer (comments below).

  1. 7 is the correct answer but the explanation is slightly wrong. BODMAS is actually:
    B
    O
    DM
    AS

with Division multiplication having equal weighting going left to right in the equation. Same with Multiplication. It doesn’t make a difference in the solution in this instance but may in other instances.

    a) 6 – 0 + 2/2

    b) 6 – 0 + 1

    c) 6+1

    d) 7
